Proprietary Disposal Products

Tarpon's BioSMB technology is enabled through a unique combination of proprietary disposable product contact elements. These components ensure the sanitary operation necessary in biopharmaceutical manufacturing while offering decreased suite time, reduced contamination risk, and increased change over efficiency.

Valve Cassette

Tarpon's Valve Cassette Assembly is at the core of all BioSMB systems. The patented integrated Valve cassette revolutionizes traditional SMB valving schemes and allows BioSMB systems to operate with fully disposable product contact elements. A single valve block can service up to 16 columns or other separation devices. The valve cassette assembly is available in two bore (1 mm and 3 mm) sizes to accommodate different flow ranges. Larger bore sizes are available upon request.

The Valve Cassette Assembly is designed to have no 'dead legs' or places that are difficult to clean. It also has zero dead volume in the valve seats, thereby minimizing the hold-up volume in the entire flow path.

The disposable format of the BioSMB system's fluid contact elements significantly reduces risk for product cross-contamination, which is especially useful in a multi-product facility. Find out how the unique combination of these elements can create a truly flexible and scalable downstream processing engine to drive efficiency in your process.

Disposable Format Columns

PRE-PACKED, DISPOSABLE-FORMAT CHROMATOGRAPHY COLUMNS

Tarpon provides banks of pre-packed chromatography columns uniquely designed and tested for use in BioSMB separations. Tarpon holds an exclusive license for the use of this column format in multi-column separations.

Disposable-Format Chromatography (DFC) Columns are:

  • Flexible - DFC columns can be packed with any bioprocess media to any bed height
  • Consistent - All DFC columns are tested to ensure consistent performance
  • Pre-packed and convenient - Simply attach the columns to the BioSMB valve block and begin running without packing or testing columns
  • Faster - Rugged column design enables operation at high pressures for faster flow rates and throughput
  • Disposable format – Eliminates cleaning and validation costs and product carry-over concerns

The Disposable-Format Chromatography (DFC) columns can be ordered from Tarpon for use on our BioSMB systems. To find out how to convert your existing batch process to a BioSMB process using your existing column chemistry and buffer systems, click here.

Sensors & Tubing Sets

The BioSMB sensors and tubing sets provide an additional level of flexibility by enabling multiple flow path configurations with one piece of hardware. The BioSMB sensors and tubing sets come pre-configured for "plug and play" operation, which reduces many of the hassles associated with change over procedures in manufacturing. They also enable the disposable flow path option for all system components containing product contact surfaces therefore reducing the chance of cross contamination between products.

BioSMB systems come equipped with the following sensors, which are configurable on any outlet as needed: pressure, four UV-VIS, two pH, and two conductivity. Tarpon offers two tubing set sizes to accommodate operation with the proprietary BioSMB valve cassette.
